About Black Pepper
The dried mature berry of Piper nigrum, a climbing perennial of the hot, moist Southern Ghats of India, now grown across Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil and Sri Lanka. It thrives between 20°N and 20°S from sea level to 1,500 m with 125–200 cm of rainfall.
Applications & Uses
Used by meat packers and in canning, pickling and baking for its preservative value and seasoning power. Piperine enhances bioavailability in pharmaceuticals. Products include pepper oil, oleoresin, micro-encapsulated, green-in-brine and dehydrated pepper.
