Overview
About Ginger
A refreshingly aromatic tropical plant native to India and Malaysia, now grown across India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Malaysia and Japan. It needs a warm, humid climate and well-distributed rainfall of 150–300 cm, thriving from sea level up to 1,500 m.
Applications & Uses
Fresh ginger, dry powder, oleoresin and oil are indispensable in gingerbread, confectionery, ginger ale, curry powders, cordials and carbonated drinks. In medicine it acts as a carminative and stimulant; the oil flavours soft drinks.
