About Clove
An unopened, air-dried flower bud from an evergreen tree 10–12 m tall that blooms after about seven years and yields for 80+ years. Indigenous to the North Moluccas, it is also grown in Zanzibar, Madagascar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India.
Applications & Uses
Whole or ground for culinary use and as a flavouring agent, blending with sweet and savoury dishes. Highly valued in medicine and dentistry for its antiseptic, antibiotic clove oil, used in toothpaste, mouthwash, soaps and perfumes.
