Overview
About Cumin
The dried, greyish-brown seed-like fruit of a small slender herb, elongated and ovoid with a warm, slightly bitter flavour. Indigenous to North Egypt, Syria, the Mediterranean, Iran and India, it is grown as a rabi crop in low-humidity conditions.
Applications & Uses
A widely used condiment in curry powders and seasonings for breads, cakes and cheese. In medicine it is a stimulant, carminative, stomachic and astringent; cumin seed oil flavours liquors and cordials and is used in perfumery.
